Thanks to everyone who posted to me about my network stability
question, here is a collection of refs I received. Also, several
people gave my some helpful commentary and suggestions based on work
they are doing, or sent me working papers which I did not include.
to sumarize:
there are at least three different meanings of "stability" in
networks, most of the papers deal with 1 and 2:
1) consistency of node set over time (actors enter or leave)
2) resistance to perturbation/attack
3) "structural"? stability
