Attention all club members:
STATION NIGHT will be held tonight at the club station. All club members
interested in visiting the club station, or learning about the equipment
at the station and how to operate are welcome to come for an orientation.
The club station will be open after 7 p.m. but you may want to call first
on the repeater or by telephone to (352) 846-0239.
A reporter from "UF Today Magazine" will be visiting tonight to talk to
club members about GARC, the club station, and ham radio. "UF Today" is
the national Alumni magazine for UF. Many GARC alumni will probably see
this article when it is published. Visit the Alumni Association website
In preparation for the visit, the club station was cleaned up last night
and a lot of stuff was packed away and stacked neatly. The refrigerator
snack bar was restocked. If you have any preferences for drinks or snacks
(cola vs root beer; chips vs candy bars) please let me know! Also,
please help keep the station clean so that it will look good at all times
for any visitors who may happen to stop by. Plans are in the works for an
Open House sometime this semester...
RESTROOMS WILL BE CLOSED on Saturday Sept. 13th at the Dental Building.
If you plan to use the club station on Saturday, it may be a long trip to
find a restroom. Notices were posted in the Dental Building this week
that the restrooms would be closed on Saturday.
HF ROTOR INSTALLATION: UF property will be scanning the GARC inventory
soon. The HF Rotor is required to have a decal due to its purchase price
($1000+). With the beam costing $1500, the combination will be a $2500+
antenna system. A work party will be assembled to install the rotor in
the next few weeks. If you want to help install the rotor, please advise
what days you can help. We will do the work on a Saturday or Sunday. I
will need to know if anyone has preferences relative to days, dates,
football games, or early morning versus afternoon, etc. Please let me
know ASAP so that we can schedule this important task.
MELBOURNE HAMFEST is this weekend! Saturday & Sunday Sept. 13-14, 2003.
The next hamfest in our area will be in Starke on October 11, 2003.
