RE: Communication by e-mail from the Graduate School
All e-mail messages originating from the Graduate School are formatted like
this message, published in plain text and do not contain attachments. They
are always copied to the department, so you will see other listservs noted
on the cc: space. There is a heading like the one above. The subject line
will always be sufficiently detailed. You will not receive a single-word
subject like, "Update." Finally, at the bottom of each message is the
"signature" of the Graduate School. Delete anything that does not contain
these elements.
The Graduate School receives delivery error messages, so we are always aware
of e-mail sent from this listserv. Therefore, it will be readily apparent to
us if a virus or worm has attacked the University computer system and sent a
message automatically. University IT staff goes into action immediately to
address the problem. It's unfortunate, but all too uncommon in this
technological age. There is no need to notify the Graduate School.
