Lots of people have been getting spammed by John Maloney. The email
comes directly to them rather than through SOCNET. Most of us assume
that he got our addresses from SOCNET, but of course they are easily
obtainable elsewhere as well. Almost a week ago, I had some
correspondence with John about his participation in SOCNET, and he
volunteered to unsubscribe, which he has done. So he is no longer a
member of this list. However, this doesn't stop him from sending you
letters independent of SOCNET.



What to do about his spamming? You can (1) send him cease and desist
letters. I believe he is spamming a *lot* of people. If everyone he
spammed sent him a letter . (2) complain to the postmaster at
pacbell.net, (3) complain to all the services he uses to connect with
you, such as AccuCard, and (4) complain to the organizations/events he
is promoting. I'm sure there are many other things you can do as well -
if you have ideas send them to me offline and I will compile them.

P.S. I have changed SOCNET settings to prevent easy access to the list
of subscribers. So if you need to see the list, you'll have to ask me
for it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
