Shalom Everyone,

We want to inform you about the plethora of events coming up in the next few weeks:

ISO has organized the Nargilah Night on March 17th at 7:30pm at the Rietz Union North Lawn,  There will be plenty of nargilot and FREE FOOD, so tell all your friends and come have a great time.

Other Israel and Jewish Events:

March is Jewish Awareness Month (JAM) and there are events for your enjoyment each night of the month.

1. NewsRAEL
When: Tuesday March 8 at 7:30pm at Hillel
What: Discussion about current events in Israel, including the newly revived Peace Process and the election of Mahmoud Abbas as the new Palestinian Authority. Join us and feel free to initiate conversation regarding any Israel related current event. Snacks will be served.

2. JAM Kickoff
When: Tuesday March 8th at 9:30pm at the Swamp Restaurant
What: Come enjoy free food and drinks to kickoff a month of wonderful events

3. Israeli Dancing
When: Wednesday March 9th at 8:00pm at Hillel
What: Israeli Dancing



Who: You and your friends

4. Dan Senor (Speaker)

When: Wednesday March 9th at 7:30

Where: Rion Ballroom at the Reitz Union

Who: Accent/JAM show

5. Bowling with Jews

When: Thursday March 10th from 7-9

Where: at the Reitz Union (bring gator 1)

6. Mitzvah Day
Who: Hillel's Million Minutes of Mitvah
When: Sunday March 13
Where: Hillel, 2020 W. University Avenue
What: Volunteering options will include:
~ Building homes with Habitat for Humanity
~ Reading to children at the public library
~ Helping to feed the homeless
~ Making greeting cards for children in the hospital
~ Working on an organic blueberry farm
~ Building habitats at a primate sanctuary
~ And much more

Check-in begins at 9am, but projects will be going on throughout the
day

-Come to Hillel to register and to find a volunteer project
-Rides/directions to volunteer sites will be provided
-Service projects will be taking place all day, so you can
participate in as many or as few projects as you want!
-Come by Hillel anytime throughout the day to find a project that
works for you!!

7."Mourning a Father Lost"
by: Dr. Avraham Balaban
When/Where:  Monday March 14 @ 7:30 pm at Norman H. Lipoff Hall.
sponsored by: The Department of Jewish Studies

Avraham Balaban is a professor of modern Hebrew literature at the
University of Florida, where he has taught since 1989. A student of
Hebrew fiction of the second half of the twentieth century, he has
published books on the Israeli writers Amos Oz, A.B. Yehoshua, and
Amalia Kahana-Carmon, among others. At the University of Florida, he
teaches courses on subjects such as women in Hebrew Literature, modern Hebrew poetry, and post-modernist trends in contemporary Israeli fiction. He will read from his memoir about life on the kibbutz.
