ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS

1. REGISTRAR ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Fall 2005 Schedule Adjustment: Schedule adjustment for Fall 2005 will
continue through August 9, 11-21.

June 29: Summer B Degree and AA Certificate Application Deadline
http://www.registrar.ufl.edu/gradhub.html.

July 6: Summer B S/U Option Application Deadline.

July 6: Last Day to Withdraw from all Summer B courses with a 25% Refund.

July 8: Summer B Fees due by 3:30 pm.

2. SECURITY UPDATES:
The UF IT Security Team would like to welcome all new and returning
students and remind them of what they can do to protect their computers
and personal data. Please visit our website to learn safe computing
information: http://infosec.ufl.edu/athome. Don't forget that you have
access to FREE anti-virus software: http://www.software.ufl.edu/mcafee/.
Also, take a minute to complete our end-user survey:
http://infosec.ufl.edu/cgi-bin/survey/. The UF IT Security Team wants to
help you protect your computer and data. We appreciate your efforts to
stay informed.

ENHANCING THE UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE

3. SERVICE: The Volunteer Center of Alachua County:
Looking to volunteer? The Volunteer Center of Alachua Country is a
non-profit organization that has teamed up with over 100 local agencies to
provide a link to couple volunteers with an array of volunteer
opportunities all around Gainesville and Alachua County. Log on to the
Volunteer Gateway at www.volunteergateway.org to search for opportunities
that interest you, or call The Volunteer Center at (352) 378-2552.

4. SERVICE: Volunteers Needed:
Southeast Rotary Boys and Girls Club of Alachua County needs student
volunteers to help 6-12 year old children with reading, math and physical
education activities. Volunteer hours are M-F 10:00 am-12:00 pm and
2:00-5:00 pm. Students can volunteer 1 hour at a time as needed for course
requirements. Call 352-372-1485 and ask for Linda or Mike.

5. INTERNSHIP: American Heart Association:
The American Heart Association Gainesville office is offering a full-time
and/or part-time internship position during the upcoming fall semester for
UF students. We are looking for a self-motivated, responsible and creative
student to work in our fundraising-based office. This student will have
the opportunity to participate actively in the daily operations of our
office, work directly with local businesses, create communication pieces,
work with volunteers and be a part of the production and promotion of our
special events: Heart Walk, Wear Red Day and Heart Ball. If you are

6. LEADERSHIP: Black Student Union Positions:
The Black Student Union's annual Fashion XClusive committee is currently
seeking applicants for Executive Board positions. Available positions
include: Assistant Choreographer, Coordinator of Models, Fashion
Consultant, Productions Director, and Public Relations Director.
Applications can be picked up at the Black Student Union office in 323

7. OPPORTUNITY: Leisure Courses:
Sign up now for Summer B Leisure Courses! Classes start the week of June
27. Register online 24- hrs/day at www.union.ufl.edu/leisure. Any
questions should be directed to the Arts & Crafts Center at 392- 2378.

8. OPPORTUNITY: IT Security Awareness Video Contest:
How can you win cash, gain experience and earn recognition all in one
endeavor? Win the IT Security Awareness Video contest! The UF IT Security
Team is helping Educause/I2 Computer and Network Security Task Force
promote an IT Security Awareness Video contest. Videos can cover a variety
of IT security topics, be three minutes or less and be targeted toward

for more information. The deadline is September 1.

9. EVENT: Off-Campus Student Social:
Off-campus students are invited to an ice cream social on June 29th from
1:00-3:00 pm in Turlington Plaza. This event is sponsored by Off-Campus
Life in the Dean of Students Office, and ice cream is provided by Ben &
Jerry's.

10. EVENT: Gator Dining Events:
Join us every Thursday from 4:30-7:30pm during Summer B for BBQ dinners at
Gator Corner Dining Center. Use your All Campus Meal Plan or $6.90 for
cash customers. This Thursday, June 30, All-You- Can-Eat BBQ featuring
Grilled Sausages, Chicken Breast, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Potato Chips
and Cake for dessert.

11. EVENT: Museum Nights:
Looking for something to do this summer? Museum Nights are back! Come to
this summer's Museum Nights kick-off to meet and mingle with new students
on June 30 from 5:00-10:00 pm. The Florida Museum of Natural History and
the Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art will be open late. Sarah Tobing, local
guitarist, will play at the Harn Museum. Free refreshments and beverages
will be provided, catered by The Swamp. For more information, visit:
