ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.  REGISTRAR ANNOUNCEMENTS:
June 10: Deadline to drop/withdraw from Summer A classes without failing
grades.

June 17: Summer A classes end.

June 20: Final grades for summer A available on ISIS in the evening.

SUMMER B SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENT: Schedule adjustment for Summer B is open
through June 23.

FALL 2005 SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENT:  Schedule adjustment for Fall 2005 will
continue through August 9, 11-21.

ENHANCING THE UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE

2.  SERVICE: The Volunteer Center of Alachua County:
Looking to volunteer? The Volunteer Center of Alachua Country is a
non-profit organization that has teamed up with over 100 local agencies to
provide a link to couple volunteers with an array of volunteer
opportunities all around Gainesville and Alachua County. Log on to the
Volunteer Gateway at www.volunteergateway.org to search for opportunities
that interest you, or call The Volunteer Center at (352) 378-2552.

3.  SERVICE: CARES Cancer Organization:
Cancer Awareness and Raising Emotions Through Sports is a new UF cancer
organization that is heavily recruiting for the summer and fall terms. If
you are looking to make an impact throughout Florida and even in
international cancer centers through service, funding, and sports, please
e-mail Chris at [log in to unmask] for more information. Leadership
positions are currently available. Our next meeting is June 3 at 5:30 pm
in 284 Reitz Union.

4.  LEADERSHIP: Black History Month Committee:
The Black History Month 2006 committee is currently accepting applications
for Executive Board positions. Available positions include:
Marketing/Communications Director, Promotions Director, Solicitations
Director, Organizational Liaison, Executive Assistant, and Webmaster. All
are invited and welcome to apply. Please e-mail [log in to unmask] or
stop by the Black Student Union office, 323 Reitz Union for an
application. All applications must be turned in by June 7 at 5:00 pm to
the Black Student Union office.

5.  LEADERSHIP: Outstanding Leadership Award for Male and Female Graduating Seniors:
Nominations are being accepted for the Summer 2005 Outstanding Leadership
Award for Male and Female Graduating Seniors, sponsored by the UF Alumni
Association. Applications may be downloaded from
http://www.dso.ufl.edu/scholarships/ola.html or picked up from 202 Peabody
Hall or 300 Reitz Union. Letters of recommendation by faculty and staff
are encouraged. Applications must be returned to the Dean of Students
Office, 202 Peabody Hall, by June 15. For additional questions, please

6.  LEADERSHIP: Student Membership on the Intercollegiate Athletics Committee:
Students are invited to apply for membership on the Intercollegiate
Athletics Committee (1 position available) for the 2005-2006 academic
year. The I.A.C. is the faculty-student committee which recommends
academic policies concerning athletics. Student applicants should be
enrolled on a full-time basis in a degree program, in good academic
standing, and have a record of leadership and involvement in the UF
community. Applications may be picked up in the Student Affairs Office in
155 Tigert, the Dean of Students Office in P202 Peabody, the Information
Desk in the J. Wayne Reitz Union and Student Activities in 330 Reitz.
Applications must be returned to 155 Tigert by June 17.

7.  OPPORTUNITY: Public Health:
Have you considered the exciting field of Public Health? Qualified
students can begin their journey towards a Master of Public Health degree
in their senior year. The College of Public Health & Health Professions at
UF offers a combined degree program that allows you to apply 15 credit
hours of public health courses to both your undergraduate degree and your
master's degree in public health. Alternatively, you can complete your
undergraduate program and then enter the MPH program, a 48- credit option
that takes two years to complete. For more information, visit our website

8.  OPPORTUNITY: Business & Engineering Majors, Entrepreneurship Minors:
A multidisciplinary experiential technology commercialization course, New
Venture Creation (GEB 4110) is designed to provide the background and
tools necessary for students interested in careers in technology ventures,
high-growth firms or business consulting, to educate students about the
business plan development process and technology commercialization, and to
introduce students to resources in the entrepreneurial arena. The course
is 3 credits and is open to UF seniors in good standing majoring in
business or engineering. The course also will count towards the Minor in
Entrepreneurship. For more information or to apply for this course, please

9.  OPPORTUNITY: UF Performing Arts Tickets:
Tickets for the UF Performing Arts 2005-06 season go on sale June 3 at
noon. Remember to bring your valid Gator 1 card to the Phillips Center Box
Office or University Box Office for $10 student tickets anywhere in the
house, subject to availability. Only one student ticket per student. For
more information about the new season, visit www.performingarts.ufl.edu or
call the Phillips Center Box Office at 392- ARTS. Join UFPA's Student
Affiliate program before June 1 and purchase your tickets before the

10.  OPPORTUNITY: IT Security Awareness Video Contest:
How can you win cash, gain experience and earn recognition all in one
endeavor? Win the IT Security Awareness Video contest! The UF IT Security
Team is helping Educause/I2 Computer and Network Security Task Force
promote an IT Security Awareness Video contest. Videos can cover a variety
of IT security topics, be three minutes or less and be targeted toward

for more information. The deadline is September 1.

11.  EVENT: Woman's Day of Health and Beauty:
WUFT-TV's A Woman's Day of Health & Beauty takes place June 4 from 9:30
am-2:30 pm in the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom. There will be an exhibit
hall with vendors sharing great health and beauty tips, presentations on a
wide variety of topics, and a luncheon. Everyone who attends will receive
a great tote bag full of goodies and will be eligible for fabulous door
prizes. Tickets cost $25 for adults and $15 for students and children 8-15
years old. Purchase tickets by calling 352-392-5551, ext. 1134, via the
web at www.wuft.tv/women.aspx or at Ilene's for Fashion or Just for Kids
II in Gainesville.
