ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.  REGISTRAR ANNOUNCEMENTS:
July 29: Deadline to drop or withdraw from Summer B/C without failing
grades.

FALL 2005 SCHEDULE ADJUSTMENT: Schedule adjustment for Fall 2005 will
continue through August 9, 11-21.

ENHANCING THE UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE

2.  INTERNSHIP: Attn Interns in Washington, D.C.:
The UF Alumni Association of Greater Washington, D.C. cordially invites UF
Washington, D.C. summer interns to meet with US representatives Jim Davis,
Adam Putnam (invited), and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (invited) on July 13
from 5:00-6:00 pm at The Florida House, Number One Second Street, NE.
Please RSVP to Julie Strandlie at [log in to unmask] and include
your UF status and summer internship site. You will have the opportunity
to have your picture taken with these members of the Florida delegation.

3.  SERVICE: Recipe for Social Change:
The Center for Leadership and Service will be hosting 'Recipe for Social
Change' in Broward Basement on July 13 at 6:30 pm. This Hunger Banquet is
geared towards student awareness of the social issues that plague the
world and, more specifically, the Gainesville community. The ultimate goal
is to empower participants to take part in social change and provide
others with a greater understanding of global hunger and poverty and the
motivation to do something about it. All are welcome and encouraged to
bring canned goods to the event. For more information, please contact

4.  SERVICE: Volunteers Needed to Share Talents:
Easter Seals at Altrusa House needs your help. We need talented
organizations or students to share their talent with wonderful people. The
Altrusa House is an adult day care center where the elderly come and play
while their caretakers work. Please help us bring them joy during their
stay. The Altrusa House hours are Monday-Friday from 6:00 am until 5:00

5.  STUDY ABROAD: Study Abroad Info Sessions:
Want to Study Abroad but don't know how to get started? Come to a Study
Abroad Info Session! Find out about programs, credits, financial aid and

6.  OPPORTUNITY: Summer Grant-writing Seminar:
Gator Humanics is presenting a summer grant-writing seminar on July 16
from 9:00 am-12:00 pm in McCarty A-G186. This is an extremely valuable
skill that is needed in a variety of different careers- Business,
Education, Community Service, Public Relations, etc., so take advantage of
this great experience! The cost is $25 that can be paid at the door. To

7.  OPPORTUNITY: Spinal Tech Hiring Projectionists:
Spinal Tech is NOW HIRING projectionists! We are accepting applications
until July 20. Projectionists are responsible for running 35mm, 16mm, and
video projection systems in our very own Reitz Union Cinema. You MUST have
previous, demonstrated experience with 35mm projection on a platter based
system in order to be considered for this position. Please fill out an

must select Spinal Tech as your first choice, and you must be a registered

8.  OPPORTUNITY: Reitz Union Productions Crew Positions:
UF students available in the Fall and Spring terms are invited to join the
Reitz Union Productions Crew. Qualified students will be working alongside
clients of the Reitz Union preparing the location for events. There are
numerous leadership opportunities. For more information or to apply,

9.  OPPORTUNITY: Strong Gator 2005 Competition:
On July 24 at 12:00 pm, the Department of Recreational Sports (Strength
and Conditioning Program) will be hosting a clinic on strongman lifting
technique followed by Strong Gator, Round 2. This competition is open to
the UF community and will determine who is UF's strongest gator. Events
include the Olympic Deadlift, Atlas Stone, Crucifix Hold, Farmers Walk,
and Medley. Registration is free to the UF community, but space is

10. EVENT: Summer B Weeks of Welcome:
The Dean of Students Office would like to invite you to join us for our
Weeks of Welcome (WOW!) program throughout the Summer B session. Several
departments and organizations have planned a variety of social and
educational events through July 30 to welcome new and continuing students
to the university. Events include BBQs, service learning opportunities, an
organization fair, the First-Year Florida Convocation, and Gatormania, a
cultural festival. For a detailed calendar of Summer B events, please

11. EVENT: IDEAL Student Organization Fair:
Come to the student organization fair on July 13 from 10:00 am until 3:00
pm on the Reitz Union Colonnade. Learn about UF's campus clubs and student
organizations and what they have to offer you!

12. EVENT: Gator Dining Events:
Join us July 13 at Broward Dining Hall from 5:00-8:00 pm for a decadent
chocolate fondue party! There will be a chocolate fondue station with
strawberries, bananas, pineapple, apples, cheesecake, marshmallows, pound
cake, brownies, pretzel sticks and graham crackers. If you like chocolate,
this is one party not to miss. Use your All Campus Meal Plan or $6.90 for
cash customers. We will also have free giveaways. And remember...don't
come too late and miss out on this extraordinary chocolate fondue party!

Join us every Thursday from 4:30-7:30 pm during Summer B for BBQ dinners
at Gator Corner Dining Center. Use your All Campus Meal Plan or $6.90 for
cash customers. This Thursday, July 14, All-You- Can-Eat New Orleans Style
BBQ featuring Bourbon Street Chicken, Grilled Tuna Steaks, Chipotle
Chicken Salad, Red Beans & Rice, Fried Okra, Corn Bread and Funnel Cakes
for dessert.

13. EVENT: Progressive Black Men Events:
Are you bored this summer? Want to find out where the real fun is? The UF
Chapter of Progressive Black Men, Inc. is proud to announce its summer
events which are open to all UF Students and the community, including:
July 13 at 7:00 pm-Game Night @ Murphree Commons; July 18 at 6:00 pm-Ice
Cream Social @ Ben & Jerry's; July 21 at 6:00 pm-Sex Awareness forum @ IBC

14. EVENT: Gator Growl Tickets On Sale:
Gator Growl tickets are on sale now! Students may purchase discounted
tickets at the University Box Office for the price of $5. General public
admission tickets are $18 each and can be purchased at any Ticketmaster
location, Ticketmaster.com and by phone at (904) 353-3309. Gator Growl
will take place October 7 at 7:00 pm in Ben Hill Griffin Stadium.  For
