Paul:
I have done some work in this area that you might find relevant. A bit
of it (focusing on the concentration of actors' collaboration patterns
with directors) is in a 2003 AJS article called "Robust Identities and
Non-entities: Typecasting in the Feature Film Industry." Much more
(focusing on actors' collaboration with directors and producers, between
producers and directors, and between all three and studios) is in a
working paper called "Do Firms and Markets Look Different? Repeat
Collaboration in the Feature Film Industry, 1935-1995." Links to this
paper and the AJS article can be found on my website:
http://web.mit.edu/ewzucker/www/.
Other places to look include a working paper by Olav Sorenson of UCLA as
well as Rob Faulkner (UMass-Amhert), whose 1983 classic "Music on
Demand" provides blockmodel analyses of collaboration patterns between
Hollywood composers and directors and producers. More analyses in this
vein can be found in Rob's 1987 AJS article with Andy Anderson called
"Short-Term Projects and Emergent Careers"
Good luck!

*Hello,
*
*I would really appreciate some leads to research on Hollywood networks,
NOT
*the Kevin Bacon stuff, but networks among scriptwriters, for instance.
*
*Much appreciated.
