I am in search of at least one ham radio volunteer for communications at
the GatorHead Regatta at Newnan's Lake this Saturday. GARC participated
in radio communications for this event about 5 years ago, and it was a lot
of fun, and a great community service.

The race officials need communications and their FRS radios don't reach
the 3-miles across the lake. GARC has two ICOM hand-held radios that can
be borrowed for use at these types of events, so don't worry if you don't
have a working radio--one can be provided for you.

If you do have your own ham radio gear, this is a great event to test your
emergency communications equipment. Crossband repeater, portable repeater,
go-kit, battery packs, antennas, and anything else you might need/want.
Put your equipment and skills to the test with an actual event that can
validate your readiness.
