RE: McKnight Doctoral Fellowship Call for Applications

The Deadline for the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship has been extended to
January 31, 2006. A brief narrative of the Fellowship follows. If you have
questions concerning the Fellowship please contact Sarah Traylor at
[log in to unmask] or at 392-6444.

The Office of Graduate Programs, in partnership with the Florida Education
Fund, administers the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship for African American
Students. The program, established during the 1984-85 academic year, is
designed to increase the representation of African American doctoral
students in doctoral programs at Florida Universities. Each fellow receives
an annual stipend of 12,000 with tuition and fee waivers for a maximum of
five years.

Eligibility Requirements: The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship is limited to
students who are U.S. citizens of African-American descent and admitted into
a doctoral program at the University of Florida.

Fellowship Application Process: Application for the McKnight Doctoral
Fellowship must be submitted directly to the Florida Education Fund prior to
January 15th of each year for consideration for funding the following fall
term. Students are notified of their status by March 15th of each year.
Students are strongly encouraged to also submit a UF graduate application to
the Office of Admissions.

McKnight doctoral Fellowship applications can be obtained from OGMP or
downloaded from the Florida Education Fund web site:
http://www.fl-educ-fd.org or requested by calling 813-272-2772. Thank you
for your assistance in this matter.
