RE: 2007-2008 UF FULBRIGHT INTERNATIONAL STUDY/RESEARCH AWARDS
Graduating seniors and graduate students who want to do research or other
projects overseas can learn about successful strategies to receive a
prestigious Fulbright award at the Fulbright orientation session on
Wednesday, September 6, 8th period (3:00 pm to 3:50 pm) in 219 Dauer Hall,
the Ruth McQuown Room.
Fulbright awards for graduate research at the MA and Ph.D. level, as well as
for graduating seniors, cover travel and living expenses for a year in any
of over 140 countries. Students in any field are encouraged to apply.
Examples of successful applications can be reviewed in the Honors Office,
140 Tigert Hall.
Applicants for a Fulbright award must be U.S. citizens, have an outstanding
GPA, have a record of community service, and be interested in international
scholarship. The Fulbright campus application deadline at UF is September
18, 2006; paper copies of the applications and supporting materials (letters
of recommendation, etc.) must be submitted to the Fulbright Program Advisors
in 140 Tigert Hall by that date. Note that the campus deadline is earlier
than the national deadline of October 21, 2006, so that all UF applicants
can be interviewed on campus as required.
Students should access the on-line application directly through the website
at www.fulbrightonline.org, where there is more information about the
program and the specific country guidelines. For the 2004-2005 academic
year, there were 9 Fulbrights from UF; there are currently 7 UF students on
Fulbright awards this year. For more information about the UF application
process, see http://www.honors.ufl.edu/forms/FulbrightHowtoapply.pdf
