ENHANCING THE UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE
 
2.  LEADERSHIP: Hispanic Heritage Month Director Applications:
The Hispanic Student Association is looking for HHM 2006 Event Directors 
who are highly motivated and task-oriented. Hispanic Heritage Month will 
run from September 15 - October 15 this year.  If you have an interest in 
planning events or would like more information, please contact Kathy Valle 
at [log in to unmask]  Events include opening ceremony, pageant show, 
talent show, fashion show, soccer tournament, comedy night and closing 
ceremony.  All applications are due by Sunday, April 23 at 5pm.
 
3.  LEADERSHIP: Gator Growl Assistant Director Applications:
Assistant Director Applications for Gator Growl 2006 are available in the 
Florida Blue Key Office on the third floor of the Reitz Union.  Don't miss 
your chance to become a part of the world's largest student-run pep rally! 
All applications are due next Wednesday April 26 at 5pm.  Please contact

4.  LEADERSHIP: Fashion X-Clusive Executive Board Positions:
Fashion X-Clusive 2006-2007 is interested in finding motivated, diligent, 
talented individuals for the 2006- 2007 Executive Board Staff.  Many 
positions are available.  Please contact the Fashion X-Clusive 2006- 2007 
Director, Jodell Butler by email at [log in to unmask] for a list of 
available positions or for further details.  All applications are due on 
April 26 by 5:00pm.
 
5.  SERVICE: Virgil Hawkins Pre-Law Society Sickle Cell Awareness Week:
VHPS Spades Tournament: Tonight from 6pm to 8:30pm at the Institute of 
Black Culture (1510 W. University Avenue, next to Chipotle).  The fee is 
$5 for a team of 2.  Food will be provided and a grand prize will be given 
to the winning team. VHPS Italian Dinner: This Friday (April 21) at St. 
Augustine Church (1738 W University Ave next to Papa John's).  Tickets are

6.  SERVICE: Locks of Love next Monday:
Do you have 8 or more inches of hair that you are willing to donate?  If 
so, the Florida Education Association will be holding a Locks of Love to 
give children hair who have long-term medical hair loss on Monday, April 
24 from 12pm to 4pm at the Great Clips on the corner 13th St and 23rd Ave. 
Kiss 105.3 will be there to support this event so come and show your

7.  INTERNSHIPS: UF Shands Eastside Education and Community Outreach:
Here's a great opportunity to gain experience with faith-based and 
community groups in East Gainesville by assisting with preventive health 
education classes.  Intern assists with recruiting presenters, marketing 
and coordination of health events, evaluation and analysis of participant 
data.  Internship is not compensated, minimum of 10 hours per week.

Mark your calendars!  On Tuesday April 25, NASA speakers Marshall Heard 
and David Pierce will be giving an exciting presentation about the next 40 
years of space exploration, including information on the CEV (Crew 
Exploration Vehicle) and more.  Food and refreshments will be provided and

12. OPPORTUNITY: Education Recruitment Day:
What do Liberal Arts and Science, Business, Computer Science, and 
Agricultural and Life Science majors have in common?  School districts and 
education organizations want to hire them!  More than 45 organizations are 
registered to attend EDUCATION RECRUITMENT DAY, from 9:00am to 2:00pm, 
April 20 (tomorrow!)  in the Reitz Union Grand Ballroom.  Hosted by the 
Career Resource Center each spring, this event helps students explore 
career opportunities in education.  Education, Nursing, and Fine Arts 
majors are also in demand.  Attend this fair if you're considering career

13. OPPORTUNITY: Extreme Dance Company Auditions:
Do you love to dance?  Extreme Dance Company is a company for ALL levels 
of dance and is holding placement auditions TONIGHT at 7:15pm in the 
Stephen O'Connell Center for the upcoming 2006-2007 year.  Dance styles 
range from jazz to hip-hop to musical theatre, and much more!

14. EVENT: Museum Nights Tomorrow:
It's your last chance to check out Museum Nights this spring semester! 
The Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art will be open from 5-10pm.  The Florida 
Museum will be closed.  Shop at the Harn and get 20% off with your Gator 1 
card.  After viewing the museum's exhibitions, enjoy a dinner with friends

15. EVENT: Steinway Festival Tonight:
Philippe Entremont, renowned French pianist and conductor, will be 
participating in the 5th Annual Steinway Festival sponsored by the School 
of Music in the College of Fine Arts, with support from the FFRI. 
Maestro Entremont will be introducing the pianists and artists as well as 
current UF alumni and students engaged in the week-long event of intensive 
piano study.  Performances will take place at the University Auditorium 
and are free and open to the public. Philippe Entremont will introduce the 
performers at 7:30pm this evening.  The Steinway Festival is under the 
direction of UF Professor of Piano, Boaz Sharon.
 
16. EVENT: University Gospel Choir Concert:
The University Gospel Choir will be having its Spring Concert this 
Saturday April 22nd at 7:00pm in Shands Auditorium.  It's a free concert 
and all are welcome to attend.
 
17. EVENT: DANZA Spring Show this Sunday:
DANZA's Spring Dance Show is Sunday, April 23 at 7:30pm in the Curtis M. 
Phillips Center for the Performing Arts.  The show, "Welcome to Fabulous 
Las Vegas!" will feature dances choreographed by Danza members-jazz, tap, 
hip hop, modern, lyrical-set to music by artists such as Pussycat Dolls, 
Aerosmith, James Blunt and Shakira.  The show also features other UF and 
Gainesville groups.  And it's free...you can't beat those odds!
 
18. EVENT: Fair Trade Fair TODAY:
Are you ready for a fairly traded Wednesday?  Students Making Trade Fair 
invites you to "A Fair Trade Fair" at the Reitz Union North Lawn and 
Colonnade to enjoy music, fairly traded jokes, food, and fun.  Come by 
between 12pm -5pm on April 19 -- drink some fair trade coffee, and taste 
the social difference! Don't forget to stop by room 284 in the Reitz Union 
between 7pm and 9pm to learn about Fair Trade from the UF student 
perspective at the Student Forum.  There will also be a speaker from 
Global Alternative Marketplace and a drum circle.
 
19. EVENT: Orange and Blue Spirit Week:
Gator Fans get excited for Orange and Blue spirit week!  Orange and Blue 
Spirit Bands will be sold for $1 at Turlington, Matherly, and the Reitz 
Union.  On April 21, "The Rally" will kickoff the week's events, taking 
place at 9pm on the Reitz Union North Lawn.  On April 22nd, The Inaugural 
Orange and Blue Debut All- Star Challenge begins at 12:05pm followed by 
the Orange and Blue Spring Football Scrimmage at 1:35pm both taking place 
at the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium at Florida Field.  On April 23rd, Gator 
Spirit Campus Beautification Project starts at 9am on Flavet Field.  All 
proceeds benefit Children's Miracle Network at Shands Children's Hospital.
 
20. EVENT: Voices for Planned Parenthood Pajamarama Party:
Come join Vox: Voices for Planned Parenthood for Pajamarama, Vox's end of 
the year/lingerie party this Friday, April 21 from 8pm to 10:30pm at 
University Club in downtown Gainesville!  There will be a fun sex 
education performance by the fabulous Condom Miranda, adult-themed games 
and a pajama/lingerie contest, so come dressed in your creative bedtime 
attire!  There will be EXCELLENT prizes and giveaways, so don't miss out 
on the most exciting and fun event of the year!  For more information
