ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS

1.  2006-2007 REITZ SCHOLARS ANNOUNCED:
Thirty undergraduate students have been selected to participate in the J. 
Wayne Reitz Scholarship Program for 2006-07.  These undergraduates were 
selected for their outstanding achievements in Leadership, Community 
Service and Academic Excellence while at the University of Florida.  Each 
scholar will be paired with a mentor from the staff or faculty of the 
university and participate in regular programs throughout the year to 
connect them to each other and learn more about the University of Florida 
and its role as a leader in the nation and the world.  Reitz Scholars also 
receive a scholarship of $2,500 for the 2006-07 academic year.  The cohort 
for each year is selected at the conclusion of spring semester.  This 
year's scholars, with their respective majors, are listed below.

ENHANCING THE UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE

2.  LEADERSHIP: Student Government Director Positions:
Student Government is accepting applications for Community Political 
Affairs Cabinet Director, Orange & Blue Cabinet Director and Assistant 
Directors.  Applications are due on June 5 by 4:00pm.  Applications are 
also available for Emerging Leaders Director and Student Health Insurance 
Director, due Friday June 2 by 4:00pm.  Pick up all applications from Room 
305 of the Reitz Union or visit the SG website at www.sg.ufl.edu and click 
on 'Applications' in the banner.

3.  LEADERSHIP: March of Dimes GatorWalk Directors and Chairs:
The March of Dimes Collegiate Council is now accepting applications for 
2006 GatorWalk Board of Directors and Chairs: Help us kick-off homecoming 
with GatorWalk, the walk that saves babies.  This year's walk will be held 
Sunday, October 1 at Flavet Field.  Please e-mail Christina Ramos at 
[log in to unmask] for an application or with questions.  Applications will 
be due 4:30pm Friday June 28th.

4.  LEADERSHIP: BSU Executive Board Positions:
The Black Student Union has positions available on the Executive Board and 
welcome all to apply to gain leadership experience! Applications for 
Solicitations Cabinet Director are available outside of the BSU Office 
(Reitz Union Room 323) or can be requested by sending an e-mail to 
[log in to unmask]  If you are interested in serving as 
Parliamentarian, e-mail a one page cover letter and resume to 
[log in to unmask]  DEADLINE: All applications are due Thursday, 
June 8th at 5pm!

5.  SERVICE: Dare to Care Cancer Awareness/Fundraiser:
College Students' CARES is a cancer organization with three goals: 
Service, Fundraising, and Awareness.  We are working on our biggest 
awareness/fundraiser event of the year and are looking for young, 
motivated individuals to help, especially freshmen and sophomores.  We 
will meet Wednesday, June 7 at 6:30pm Reitz Union Basement Room 70.  If

6.  SERVICE: Volunteers Needed at Haven Hospice Retail Store:
Student Volunteers will be involved in designing and creating the teen and 
young adult section for the Back-to-School Sale in July. They will assist 
in accepting donations, customer service, pricing and sorting, and sales. 
Volunteers receive a 20% discount on all merchandise and will gain 
valuable experience in retail.  Come to the open house for interested 
volunteers Monday June 5 from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at the Attic Resale Store 
located at 300 NW 8th Avenue.  For more information contact Chelsea

7.  SERVICE: Be a Conversation Partner Volunteer:
The UF English Language Institute attracts students from all over the 
world for the purposes of learning and practicing English, and we need 
your help.  By becoming a Conversation Partner Volunteer, you will get the 
chance to talk with an international student for 1 hour per week, at a 
time and place determined by you and your partner.  This can be a mutually 
beneficial exchange of culture and language.  Please contact Troy Loker

8.  OPPORTUNITY: UF Computing Help Desk Hiring:
Need a job??  Do you like working with computers and possess great 
customer service skills?  If so, a job at the UF Computing Help Desk might 
be the opportunity for you!  Applications are available in the Computer 
and Science Engineering Building (CSE) room 520 or at 
http://helpdesk.ufl.edu.  Applications will be due in 520 CSE by 
Wednesday, June 7 at 5:00pm.

9.  OPPORTUNITY: Hispanic Heritage Month Pageant Contestants Needed:
This year's HHM Pageant will be held October 3rd in the Rion Ballroom at 
7:30pm, doors at 7pm.  The pageant is looking for contestants to 
participate and be crowned Mr. and Ms. Hispanic Student Association. 
Winners get a cash prize!  ALL Men and Women are welcome to participate, 
Hispanic or not! The best part is that there is NO EXPERIENCE REQUIRED!
