ADMINISTRATIVE ANNOUNCEMENTS
 
1.  STUDENT FINANCIAL AFFAIRS ANNOUNCEMENT:
Need help completing your Free Application for Federal Student Aid 
(FAFSA)? Come to a UF Student Financial Affairs Application Help Session 
in the J. Wayne Reitz Union.  A financial aid adviser will be available to 
answer questions and provide students with individual help completing the 
FAFSA.  All sessions will be from 1pm to 4pm in the Reitz Union as 
follows: Feb. 8, Room 286; Feb. 12, Room 282; Feb. 15, Room 287; Feb. 21, 
Room 363; Feb. 22, Room 361; Feb. 23, Room 363; Feb. 28 and March 1, Room

ENHANCING THE UNDERGRADUATE EXPERIENCE
 
2.  LEADERSHIP: UF Hall of Fame Applications Available:
Applicants must be classified as a senior or above, or be graduate or 
professional school students at UF.  The University of Florida Hall of 
Fame is the highest recognition given to student leaders at UF, and is 
reserved for those who have shown truly superior leadership and 
achievement through their activities and scholarship while members of the 
UF community.  The University of Florida Hall of Fame is limited in size 
to no more than 25 students in a given year.  Applications are available 
at: P202 PEABODY HALL - DEAN OF STUDENTS OFFICE 3RD FLOOR, REITZ UNION - 
ACTIVITIES DESK 1ST FLOOR, REITZ UNION - INFORMATION DESK 155 TIGERT HALL

Completed applications must be returned to 155 Tigert Hall no later than 
Friday, March 3 by 4:00pm.  Please contact the Office of the Vice

3.  LEADERSHIP: SGP Comptroller Position Available:
The Comptroller will be responsible for overseeing the financial and 
accounting procedure of Student Government Productions.  Deadline to apply 
is Friday, February 17 by 4:00pm.  Pick up application at Reitz Union Room 
305.  If you have any questions, please call 352 392-1665.
 
4.  LEADERSHIP: SAVANT UF Applications Available:
Membership in SAVANT UF is a privilege enjoyed by more than 140 student 
leaders who are involved in a wide range of campus and community 
activities. Application materials can be found at the SAVANT UF desk on 
the third floor of the J. Wayne Reitz Union.  The deadline to submit 
completed applications is next Friday February 17.  Please contact Chris 
Chase, SAVANT UF's Member-at-Large, at [log in to unmask] with questions.
 
5.  SERVICE: Charity Golf Tournament:
Premed AMSA's 5th Annual Charity Golf Tournament will be held Saturday, 
February 11 at the University Golf Course (scramble format, 8am shotgun 
start, registration 7am with complimentary coffee and bagels). 
Application fee includes greens fees, golf cart, driving range and lunch. 
Prizes offered for hole- in-one, longest drive, closest to the pin and the 
top three finishing teams.  All proceeds go to support the Equal Access 
Clinic of Gainesville, the only free heath care clinic within eight

6.  SERVICE: Homerun Derby for Children's Miracle Network:
Phi Mu Sorority is hosting their annual Homerun Derby batting competition, 
consisting of three rounds of pitches.  Proceeds from registration fees 
benefit Children's Miracle Network.  The event will be held February 12 at 
Lake Alice Field from 12-2pm.  We encourage individuals as well as teams

7.  OVERSEAS STUDY: European Studies Summer Program Info Session:
The Center for European Studies invites you to attend its Study Abroad 
Information Session on four Summer 2006 programs (UF in Brussels, UF in 
Prague, UF in Krakow/Wroclaw, and UF in Salzburg).  The Session will take 
place February 15 at 5:30pm in the Academic Advising Center, Room 200.

8.  OVERSEAS STUDY: Paris Research Center:
MAKE PARIS YOUR CLASSROOM!  March 1 is the deadline for registering for 
the Paris Research Center's May Intersession Program (May 7-13 and May 
7-20) and Summer Program (June 19-July 28). Applications and information 
can be obtained at the International Center at 123 Grinter Hall, in 157 
Dauer Hall, or on the PRC website at www.clas.ufl.edu/PRC.  Please address

9.  OVERSEAS STUDY: Warrington College of Business Summer Programs:
Interested in studying in London, England or Rouen, France this summer? 
Professor Bill Rossi, an innovative entrepreneur, will lead a six-week 
program to France, teaching New Venture Planning at the Ecole Supérieure 
de Commerce with company visits and cultural excursions.  In London, 
students take UF online business classes as well as courses at Huron 
University.  Internships are available for three or six credits.  Call

10. ACADEMIC OPPORTUNITY: University Women's Club Scholarships:
The University Women's Club awards scholarships each spring, this year 
valued at $1000 each.  Requirements for consideration include full time 
enrollment at the University of Florida, current Junior or Senior status, 
a minimum 3.6 GPA, and participation in campus and/or community 
activities.  Applications for the scholarships can be downloaded from the 
Dean of Students web site at http://www.dso.ufl.edu/scholarships/uwc or 
picked up at 202 Peabody Hall.  Complete applications will include the 
application form, a personal statement, two letters of reference, a 
community service letter on official letterhead, and an official copy of 
your transcript.  Applications are due February 16 by 4:30pm.  Please feel

11. OPPORTUNITY: Black Student Union Spring Break Trips:
The Black Student Union's Travels Cabinet will be hosting its 2nd annual 
Spring Break Trips this March.  There will be two trips happening 
consecutively: March 10-12 in Miami at the Ramada Beach Resort (cost $165) 
and March 13-19 in Chicago, IL at the Marriott Hotel Suites (cost $325). 
UF ID is not required so all your friends and family can join us. Payment

12. OPPORTUNITY: Interfaith Dialogue Tomorrow Night:
An interfaith dialogue entitled "Jerusalem: A Hotbed of Religious 
Animosity" will be held this Thursday, February 9 in the Rion Ballroom 
from 7-9pm.  Come join us for this discussion on the religious importance 
of Jerusalem in each of the Abrahamic faiths, and its root in the violence 
and political instability of the region.  The interfaith panel will 
consist of Rev. Bob Edgar (General Secretary of the National Council of 
Christian Churches), Imam Mohammed Abdul Malik (Muslim Religious Minister 
for the United Nations), and Rabbi Jonathan Siger (UF Hillel and Campus

13. OPPORTUNITY: Auditions for Wonder of Women (WOW) Talent Show:
Auditions will take place: February 8 from 12pm-4:30pm in Reitz room 
346-347; February 13 from 12pm- 5pm in Reitz room 349; and February 15 
from 12pm-4pm in Reitz room 349. The WOW Talent Show is hosted by the 
ladies of Phi Sigma Rho and is meant to beautify/positively portray women 
or advocate non-violence towards women.  All proceeds from the show go to 
benefit RAINN (the Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network).  The actual 
WOW Talent Show will be held March 7.  If you have any questions or are

14. OPPORTUNITY: Valentine's Day Gift Sale:

15. OPPORTUNITY: VISA Talent Show:
VISA is looking for student organizations that are interested in 
participating in the annual VISA Talent Show.  Applications are available 
on the door of the VISA office on the Reitz Union's 3rd floor.  We are 
searching for two MC's, who must be comfortable in front of a large 
audience (O-Dome size) and be able to ad-lib.  Auditions will be held

16. OPPORTUNITY: Outdoor Adventure in Costa Rica:
Outdoor Adventure Recreation (OAR), an official UF student organization, 
has partnered with Outward Bound to offer you an outdoor-oriented spring 
break trip in Costa Rica.  Activities will include whitewater rafting, 
rappelling, backpacking, learning Costa Rican culture, surfing, and 
staying with indigenous families.  Check out more information at

17. OPPORTUNITY: Valentine's Dinner at Broward Dining:
Join us Monday, February 13 for a Valentine's dinner and dessert party. 
We will be serving all-you-care- to-eat spaghetti and meatballs, tossed 
salad and garlic toast.  For dessert, there will be a decadent fountain of 
chocolate!  We will have a chocolate fondue station with strawberries,

18. EVENT: Environment, Science and Policy Society Speaker:
Rob Brinkman, will speak Monday February 13, 6pm at Room 100 of the New 
Engineering Building.  Brinkman is Chair of the Alachua County 
Environmental Protection Advisory Committee and the Suwannee-St.Johns 
group of the Sierra Club, and also serves on the Gainesville Energy 
Advisory Committee.  He will focus on the issue of how local government 
deals with meeting the needs of a growing community without negatively 
affecting the quality of life through degradation of natural resources and 
the health of the community.
 
19. EVENT: Swing Dancing Club Exchange and Workshop Weekend:
Join us February 10-12 for a weekend of dancing and workshops with guest 
instructors Joe and Shari Tessier, and The Big Band Sounds of the Buchholz

20. EVENT: Gator Nights Special Events This Friday:
TRiP and Gator Nights Rock Climbing for ONLY $8 this Friday!  Don't miss 
out on this great deal, which includes gear, climbing, belaying, and 
transportation to the Gainesville Rock Gym.  After you pick up your Gator 
Nights wrist band, head over to the Outfitter (ground floor Reitz) and 
from 8pm to 12am we will be shuttling to and from the Rock Gym. There will 
be free food and drinks in the Outfitter before climbing!

21. EVENT: of Montreal at the Rion Ballroom:
The Reitz Union Board presents Athens band Of Montreal, playing a FREE 
SHOW at UF next Wednesday, February, in the Rion Ballroom.  Doors open at 
7:30pm.  Opening acts are the late b.p. helium and James Husband.  Go to

22. EVENT: Tribute to the Caribbean:
The Jamaican-American Student Association proudly presents our Tribute to 
the Caribbean.  Join us Saturday, February 11 at 5:00pm in the Broward 
Basement.  Expand your horizons with knowledge, FREE cultural food, and 
fun!
