GARC Members:
This Sunday morning, Feb.19th, nearly 1,000 runners will participate in
the first Gainesville Marathon called the Five Points of Life Marathon.
The event is 26 miles through Gainesville. Major roads such as NW 34th
Street, Newberry RD, 43rd Street, and NW 16th Avenue may be blocked off
in the morning in some sections between 7:00 AM and 10:00 AM.
Here's the web site for details:

If you have a hand-held radio, or if you want to borrow the club's
hand-held 2-meter radio, you can help with the event communications. I
still have a couple spots available if you want to ride around during the
event with the event staff, or help out at a medical tent along the route.
The event coordinators would like everyone on station by 7:00 AM. The
race begins at 7:30 AM, and could last up to 7 hours.
For students, your services will count towards the public service that
Student Government is always looking for in the student organizations.
The race is sponsored by a the UF Orthopaedics Department and the route
cross the campus for about 5-6 miles worth of the Marathon.
Please email me for details by Saturday noon if you can help.
Thanks!
