VACANCY LEISURE MANAGEMENT AND ORGANIZATION

Department of Social and Cultural Sciences

Tilburg University
Tilburg is located in the South of the Netherlands and hosts a University
with six Faculties: Economics, Law, Arts, Theology, Philosophy, and Social
and Behavioural Sciences. The Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences
offers degree courses in Psychology, Sociology, Human Resource Studies,
Organization Studies and Leisure Studies.

The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences
The Department of Social and Cultural Sciences is responsible for two
curricula: Sociology (Ba and Ma) and Leisure Studies (Ba and Ma). It is also
partner in the International Masterprogram European Urban Cultures (POLIS).
The Leisure Studies curricula offer an integrative and multidisciplinary
approach of demand and supply in the leisure sector.
	To strengthen its education and research in the field of management and
organization in the leisure sector the department seeks to appoint an

Assistant (Associate) Professor (full-time)

The position combines research and teaching tasks at a high academic level
(0,3  0,4 fte research, 0.7 -0.6 teaching)

Responsibilities
The candidate will contribute to the Leisure Studies curricula of the
Department, in particular on issues of management and organization in the
leisure sector. Supervision of bachelor and master theses is part of the
job.
	The research will be carried out within the research program of the
Department of Organization Studies. It will be focused on managerial and
organizational issues of temporary organizations, such as event- and project
organizations in the leisure sector.
	The candidate will actively search for research projects and grants from
third parties and take part in the organizational duties of the Department
of Social and Cultural Sciences.

Qualifications
The candidate has adequate experience in academic teaching and has obtained
good evaluations (e.g. by students). There is a willingness to follow
didactic and/or language courses, if needed.
The candidate's research is of high quality, manifested in publications in
international, peer-reviewed journals and in a sufficient number of
citations. The academic output has to meet the standards the Faculty of
Social and Behavioural Sciences applies for allocating research time to
individual researchers.

An appointment as Associate Professor is possible if, in addition, the
candidate has experience in the development of academic curricula, or parts
thereof, with a view on quality improvement and attractiveness for students.
Furthermore the candidate is experienced in the coordination of large-scale
research programs and supervision of junior researchers and/or PhD
candidates, and has been successful in acquiring external grants and/or
research projects.

Terms of employment
Initially the appointment will be on a temporary basis, but dependent upon
performance this can be changed into employment on a permanent basis. The
salary for the position of assistant professor on full time basis ranges
between  2950 and  4605 gross per month, for the position of associate
professor between  4100 and  5489 gross per month, not included are
various allowances.
