Position Description
North Carolina State University is seeking a Coordinator of Individual
Tutoring for its Undergraduate Tutorial Center. The UTC facilitates
academic support in a range of subjects via tutor training, tutoring and
supplemental instruction. It is housed within the Division of
Undergraduate Academic Programs. The Coordinator is a full-time,
9-month, non-tenure track staff (EPA) position. However, due to the
nature of the job requirements, the Coordinator must be available to
work from August 1st - May 31st. Compensatory time is awarded for all
days worked over the 9-month term.
Responsibilities
As a member of the UTC team, the Coordinator takes an active role in
all major functions of the UTC, including teaching, training, planning,
assessing, and promoting its programs. Specific duties include:
* Supervising individual tutoring operations, including hiring,
scheduling, providing continued training for all returning weekly
assigned tutors and sign-up tutors, and updating webpages;
* Assessing individual tutoring results by maintaining data entry and
collection procedures, analyzing and reporting data to various groups on
a regular basis and working with assessment specialists as needed to
develop new assessment measures;
* Teaching at least one section of ECI 210: Introduction to College
Tutoring each semester;
* Participating in staff meetings and working with other staff members
to develop programs and procedures for UTC operations.
Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's degree in relevant field; tutoring and/or
teaching experience. Comfort with the use of technology for data
collection, assessment, and presentations.
Preferred: Master's degree in a relevant field; Teaching and/or
administrative experience at the college level. Experience in tutor
training, methods of assessing academic support programs, and/or webpage
maintenance.
Salary: commensurate with experience and qualifications
