CAS To Release Revised Standards for Colleges and Universities
  June 21, 2006

The Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS)
has announced the release of updated standards for 2006, available this
August.

The CAS standards are guidelines that serve as a self-assessment strategy
for colleges and universities to ensure the quality of programs and
services. Use of the CAS standards by institutions has the potential to
enhance and improve the potential for student learning and development.
They are designed primarily for institutions to use within the context of a
"self-regulation" process.

 The new materials include:

Ģ Professional Standards in Higher Education (6th edition)

Ģ A compact disk of 35 self-assessment guides, power point for
presentations, e-learning course pertaining to self-assessment, and
contextual statements for each standard

Ģ Frameworks for Assessing Learning and Development Outcomes
(FALDOS)

In addition, CAS has developed five new standards for 2006: college
honor societies, education abroad programs, health promotion services,
internship programs, and service learning.

For more information or to preorder the publications, see
the<http://www.cas.edu/>CAS web site.
