On a related topic I have always wondered about the networks of smokers.
There seems to be a strong bond and development of ties in designated
smoking areas outside office buildings, sporting venues, etc. How does
the investment of pulmonary capital pay of in social capital?

Interesting. Perhaps we need a follow-up study on compensatory
