I'm rather new to social network analysis and am currently writing my first paper in this area, one section of which should cover a brief revision of the history of social network analysis. As far as I was able to find out, the first paper that actually introduced the term "social network analysis" is Barnes 1954:
J. A. Barnes
Class and committees in a Norwegian island parish
Two questions in that context:
First, can anyone please confirm whether it is true that Barnes was the first one using the term "social network analysis"? I got this information from Wikipedia and am not 100% sure whether I can trust it.
Second, would anyone be able to send me a pdf version of this paper? Although my university has subscribed to Human Relations, our subscription does not go back until 1954.
Thanks very much for your help,
