We're moving into a new datacenter. My connectivity is bought from the
same person for many years, and he's moving to a new datacenter.
And for that reason, I've never had to be a network guy.
At the old datacenter we had routing, and subnets.
Now at the new one he tells me he can't the kind of connection he needs
from the upstream for a router, and he can only use a switch.
Since each machine of my machines is rented out as a dedicated server, I
don't think it secure enough, as anyone could set up an IP# that's not
assigned. If that happens, will the switch vlan capabilities stop him
from effectively "stealing" that IP#?
(The switch is an HP Procurve.)
