IT Expert:
This IT Expert position will be responsible for programming and
maintenance for software programs, and provide systems and application
support within the CNS, Open Systems Group.
Essential Duties:
1. Programming and maintenance of AIX and Linux systems, and various
J2EE application environments, internal to the CNS Open Systems Group.
Aid in daily maintenance and support of applications running on AIX and
Linux.
2. Maintain cluster of systems supporting WebCT, commensurate with the
Educational mission of the University.
3. Technical consulting with users about specific problems concerning
CNS services, aiding their proper and effective use. Answer Telephone
and electronic mail problem reports.
4. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements: A high school diploma and four years of any
combination of relevant experience, education and/or certification. The
level of expertise and skill required to qualify for a position in this
classification is generally attained through combinations of education
and experience in the field. While such employees commonly have a
bachelor's or higher degree, no particular academic degree is required.

IT Intermediate Req # 0702767
Job Description:
This IT Intermediate position will be responsible for programming and
maintenance of software programs, and will provide system and
application support within the CNS Open Systems Group, located in the
University of Florida's Office of Information Technology. Essential
duties of this position include programming and maintenance of Linux and
AIX systems, as well as supporting web hosting environments for
customers within the University. Specific duties will include the
configuration and maintenance of clustered web servers using Apache,
MySQL, and various programming environments in a highly available
environment. Other duties include providing technical consulting via
telephone and email with front-line support staff as well as some direct
user interaction regarding problems concerning CNS services and their
proper and effective use. Further duties to include assisting in the
support of other CNS provided services including email, J2EE
applications, and DBMSs. Ability to take portion of group on-call
rotation desired.
Requires specific knowledge of Unix operating system concepts
specifically Linux (Gentoo and Redhat) and IBM's AIX; experience
deploying and maintaining websites using the Apache webserver;
familiarity with MySQL DBMS; fluency in XML, XSLT, and CSS; good
technical writing and communications skills; ability to interact with
people in an effective and courteous manner; must exercise proper
judgment to maintain production standards in an environment of
uncertainty and risk. The ability to acquire additional skills as
technology and job functions warrant is essential.
A high school diploma and one year of any combination of relevant
experience, education and/or certification is required.
