Ouch, how much memory do you actually have in the system?

Did you use that buffer-size suggestion?


It's possible that specifying more buffer than you actual have forces 
the system into a "swappy place" whereas letting the dymanic allocation 
occur might have worked out better.  Can't say for sure, just thinking 
out loud....

Just curious about what your performance metrics look like while running 
that command.
