It's good to be suspicious and I definitely am not suggesting that
this report necessarily is correct in all facets, but I'd
encourage folks interested in this to look at the values in the
full report before dismissing it out of hand. The analyses are not
just for Prius and Hummer, but for all 2006 consumer vehicles.
The overall question as to whether or not current hybrid
technology is the right way to go in terms of significantly
reducing overall fossil energy consumption in the transportation
sector is worthy of serious analysis and objective debate. Leaving
comparisons with hybrids out of it, the findings do indicate that
Hummers clearly are not the way to go.
I also was suspicious of these values. I ran a few searches though
the journal search engines (Scopus and Engineering Village). I
couldn't find any per reviewed or any other publications on this.
