Dear Larry,
Layout>Energy>Fruchterman Reingold>Factor is not a command but an
option: it sets the value of the 'repulsion' parameter of the
Fruchterman Reingold algorithm, but it does not execute the algorithm
itself. After changing this option, you must issue the Fruchterman
Reingold>2D (or 3D) command to obtain a new layout for the network.
The text on p. 17 of our book is not entirely clear, so I will adjust it
in the next edition. Thanks for the hint.
