Subject: Solar Petition for Sunshine State
Hello Gardeners, Teachers, and Friends in Florida,
(Could someone at UF send this out on the ESPS and ASES
In a few days, "Vote Solar" is going to present Governor Crist with a
plan to make Florida a world-class solar leader. When they do, they've
got to be able to show him that Floridians support this plan.
Vote Solar's "Florida Solar Roofs Initiative" will:
* Make use of clean, renewable solar panels ("photovoltaics") and
solar water heating ("solar thermal"), each of which would account for
2% of the state's energy needs by 2020.
* Save you money, by letting you run your electricity meter
backwards ("net metering") when you install solar power on your roof.
* Provide money to offset the cost of installing solar panels on the
roof of every house and business whose owner wants them.
* Come at a price we can afford - the program's costs are capped at
less than 1% of current utility rates. Almost 80% of Floridians are
willing to pay this much, according to a recent poll.
Here is the website if you want to sign the petition. Who knows if
it'll help, but it only takes about 30 seconds:
