RE: SPRING 2008 AWE AND ASE REQUIREMENTS
Any new international students admitted for Spring 2008 who do not meet the
minimum English language requirements (at least 320 on the verbal portion of
the GRE, 6 on the IELTS, 77 on the MELAB, 213 on the computer TOEFL, 80 on
the Internet TOEFL or 550 on the paper TOEFL) must take the free Academic
Written English (AWE) test from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Thursday, 3
January 2008 in Room E119 of the Computer Science and Engineering Building
on campus. Information on this test is available online here:
Anyone who takes this test and does not pass it must take and pass Spring
2008 EAP 5845 Academic Written English.
Any new international students being considered for Spring 2008 graduate
teaching assistantships who do not have qualifying TSE or SPEAK Test scores
required by Florida law must take the SPEAK Test on campus. Information on
this test, its next testing dates and how to register for it is available
Students must have qualifying TSE or SPEAK Test scores beforehand to receive
a graduate teaching assistantship.
If you have not already done so, please review your lists of new Spring 2008
students and notify any who do not meet these requirements that they must
take these tests.
