I have been doing some research on social networks derived from
collaboration through wikis. I am about to do a traditional SNA survey of
the participants and hence will derive the social network as determined
through survey rather than collaboration log mining. In the survey I will
also be asking respondents to rate the "value" they have gained from
participation in the wiki. I would like to do some statistics on how well
the wiki derived and survey derived networks compare/correlate. I would also
like to link particular network roles or patterns with performance (as
determined from the "value" question).
My initial thoughts are to simply choose a few centrality measures for each
actor and just do a correlation between the networks. On the other question
I would do a similar thing for correlating centrality measures and
I am interested to know in if there are any standard approaches for doing
what I am looking to do. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.
