Note: This conference is open to all, but attendance will be limited to 250 because of space limitations.
Call for papers: Third Interagency Conference on Research in the Watersheds (ICRW): Planning for an Uncertain Future: Monitoring, Integration, and Adaptation.
This conference has been organized by the USGS and will be held 8-11 September 2008 in Estes Park, Colorado.
The conference will focus on research conducted in small watersheds and its relevance to managers charged with balancing the needs of society with those of natural ecosystems. Overviews of watershed research and management presented by national and regional program leaders on the first day will help identify critical water quantity and quality issues. These issues as well as adaptive management options will be formalized during a forum at the end of the conference.
Registration is open and abstracts are requested by July 11. Abstracts will be used mainly for conference session planning, and will not be published, so approval is not needed. All abstracts are expected to be developed into final peer-reviewed and approved manuscripts for inclusion in the on-line Conference Proceedings. Manuscripts are due by September 8 with the Proceedings published online in the USGS Scientific Investigations Series later in the year.
The registration fee is $300, but will increase to $340 after June 20 so register soon. [Fee can be reduced for students and waived for private stakeholders].
Topics, travel and lodging information, registration, and other details are available on the conference web site (http://www.hydrologicscience.org/icrw/).
