Universities Council on Water Resources (UCOWR) and
National Institutes on Water Resources (NIWR)
2008 Annual Conference Preliminary Program and Registration Information
July 22-24, 2008, Durham, North Carolina, USA

In addition to the timely and wide-ranging themes of International Water Resources and Water Resources Education, you will stay in the Durham Marriott at the Civic Center (the Conference venue), in a revitalized "City of Medicine" downtown with the Durham Bulls Athletic Park, the Historic American Tobacco District, and numerous restaurants, all within walking distance. The reception will be held at the nearby North Carolina Museum of Life and Science featuring the Butterfly House. The Banquet will include a tribute to Peter Rogers, and there will also be two technical tours and a recreational trip from which to choose, all as part of the UCOWR/NIWR Conference. The Preliminary Program<http://www.ucowr.siu.edu/2008%20Conference/Prem%20Prog%2004-18.pdf> is now available at www.ucowr.org<../../../Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/OLK6C/www.ucowr.org>.

The technical program includes sessions on Water Resources in the Developing World, Water Cooperation and Conflict, Economics of Water Use, Water Policy and Politics, Water Resources in the Middle East, and more. Plenary speakers feature Ariel Dinar and Peter Rogers on International Water Resources Policy; Bruce McCarl, Roger Pulwarty, and Penny Firth on Global Climate Change; and Ahmed AlYaqoubi, Amer Sawalha, and Avner Vengosh on Israel & Palestine: Water Resources.

To learn more about the conference, please visit the homepage of the UCOWR website, www.ucowr.org<http://www.ucowr.org/>. There you will find additional information on the plenary speakers, the technical program, and special events. An easy and secure registration website can be accessed directly from www.ucowr.org<../../../Local%20Settings/Temporary%20Internet%20Files/OLK6C/www.ucowr.org>. Also, make sure to book your room at the Marriott early, as there is a limited block of rooms available for conference participants. We've included links to the hotel as well as numerous local points of interest, many of which are within easy walking distance from the hotel.

Mark your calendars for July 22-24, 2008 and register now to be eligible for discounts. The registration desk will be open Monday July 21 from 4pm to 7pm for those wishing to avoid the rush on Tuesday morning.

See you in Durham!
