Ya think?!!!
The biggest thing I've learned from this list serve is to keep a sense
of humor. What's the big deal about 3 million emails in my inbox?

Subject: Solution Suggestion
How about if someone has something to share, they just attach it with
the original offer to share it. Then anyone who wants it can open it
and use it, anyone who doesn't can ignore it and/or delete it: that's
just one email on the listserve. Then anyone who uses it and wants to
ask questions or say, "Wow, this is great!" can do that off-list,
because the contact information will surely be on the attachments, if
not in the emails.

Subject: Re: Reply to the Individual rather than whole List
My email system does not give me that option. For example, I'm replying
to this message and the "From" line says "Open Forum for Learning
Assistance Professionals" [mailto: etc.] "on Behalf Of Cooke, Winifred
B"
That's all. If the sender doesn't include her email address in the
message, my only option is to reply to the entire list. I wish it were
otherwise because so many senders don't include their own email
addresses.

Can I reply directly to the individual sending the message rather than
the listserve?
Not only can you reply directly to the individual, but listserve
etiquette<http://www.teachingcenter.ufl.edu/lrnasst.html#etiquette>
requires that you do so when the message is only useful or intended for
a single person. Otherwise, your personal response will be read by all
1200+ subscribers to the LRNASST-L listserve. This could not only be
embarrassing, but your message would also clog the listserve
unnecessarily. Remember that LRNASST-L, like most other academic
listserves, are public forums for discussion of issues that are of
professional interest, not a "chat" service.
To write a message to the individual who sent a message to the
listserve, do not use the "reply" feature of your email program.
Instead, look at the "from" line which should contain the individual's
email address. (Some programs allow you to directly click on this
person's email address to open a new message, while others will only
give you the text to copy.) Copy this email address, open a new email
message, and type in the individual's email address.

Subject: Re: Wow! What a response to online tutoring Powerpoint!
A couple of listers have mentioned a 'private reply' option. Is that
something available through lrnasst in some way, or is that a function
of certain email systems? If it's a lrnasst option, could someone
please post the directions for a private reply? Thanks.
