Bruderly adds;
Convert your gasoline or diesel powered vehicle to compressed natural gas
and you capture a 20% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions immediately. If
you are lucky enough to have an anaerobic digester next door then you do
even better.
But the point is that natural gas is a cost-feasible alternative fuel that
is cleaner, safer and more efficient than liquid gasoline or diesel fuels.
And by starting to use a gaseous fuel rather than a dirty, dangerous
flammable liquid fuel you help create a commercial pathway to zero-carbon
gaseous hydrogen fuels.
Find a way to use your PV array or a biomass gasifier to make renewable
hydrogen and add only 15% renewable hydrogen to your natural gas vehicle and
you capture another 15% reduction in GHG emissions immediately.
Let's see that's a 50% reduction in GHG emissions by simply being more
efficient at home and work AND using compressed natural gas in your vehicle
to replace petroleum derived fuels.
"Yeah, but .", you say. "The price of natural gas has doubled and it is
going to go up even more." Yep you are right. But do the math. At $14/mmbtu
natural gas your fuel cost for an NGV is less than $2.00/gge - that cost is
now less than half the pre-tax cost of $4.50/gallon diesel fuel or $4.09
gasoline.
Think about it; crank the numbers. If you want to help jump start a natural
gas fueling business in this town give me a holler.
