Dear Colleagues:
We would like to invite you to participate in the 9th Annual Soil and Water Science Research Forum
(http://soils.ifas.ufl.edu/forum/) scheduled for September 12, 2008, in Gainesville, Florida. The forum is designed to bring together representatives from state and federal agencies, and private industry, faculty and graduate students, and prospective students interested in soil and water science. The forum will provide an opportunity for all interested in soil and water science to interact with our students, faculty and administrators on campus.
This year Dr. Don Sparks, S. Hallock du Pont Chair of Soil Chemistry and Department Chairman, Plant and Soil Sciences, University of Delaware, Newark, DE, is scheduled present a keynote lecture on topic entitled: "Shining Light on Biogeochemical Processes in the Earth's Critical Zone!"
The Soil and Water Science Department (SWSD) faculty, staff, and students conduct research in several interdisciplinary programs including: biogeochemistry, ecology, environmental sciences, hydrologic sciences, tropical agriculture, and turfgrass management. Research efforts are organized into the following general areas: 1) Management of nutrients, pesticides, and wastes, 2) Remediation of contaminated soils, waters, and aquifers, 3) Soil quality and ecological indicators, 4) Soil and landscape analysis, and 5) Wetlands and aquatic systems.
We look forward to your participation in the forum. If you are planning to attend, please go to the following web site and register. http://soils.ifas.ufl.edu/forum/ <http://soils.ifas.ufl.edu/forum/forumbrochure2008.pdf>
