Dan,
I am playing around with a generic map of various "roles" in the mess
-- nodes are NOT specific banks/organizations/groups/people/etc. I
don't think anyone knows all of the financial ties amongst all of the
financial players in the last months/years -- some are private, some
are public.
It took me 3 months of "1-2 hours a day" to do the 9-11 terrorist map
at the end of 2001 -- luckily I had the time. The financial mess is
much bigger and more interconnected, though some of the data is more
available. It is probably a full time job for several people for the
next few months. I suspect we will start seeing some interesting and
useful maps by early 2009.
