The UF Center for European Studies is soliciting applications for Foreign Language and Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships in the following categories. (Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States and be currently enrolled or accepted to a degree program in the University of Florida's Graduate School through the disciplinary department of their choice.)
* Summer 2009 FLAS for the intensive study of any Europe-related language. Summer fellowships cover tuition at the host institution and provide a stipend of $2,500. * Academic Year 2009-2010 FLAS aimed at students combining graduate work in an academic discipline with European area and language studies.
Fellowships are offered for any one of the lesser and least commonly taught European languages (Czech, Hungarian, Italian, Modern Greek, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, and Turkish). In exceptional cases funding may also be available to support advanced language training in French, German or Spanish. Fellowships provide a stipend of $15,000 per academic year and cover the cost of tuition and fees (12 credits per semester).
