Don't get Mad. Go MADD!

Make a Difference Day (MADD) is the most encompassing national day of helping others where students become aware of the many issues in their community through service and education. This year it is taking place on Saturday, October 24 from 9:00am-2:00pm.

In 2008, over 3 million people around the country completed various projects and this number continues to grow. MADD at UF is meant to provide students with the opportunity to give back to the Gainesville community alongside their fellow peers.

7.	VOLUNTEER: Volunteer with Gator CHOMP:
Get involved with Gator CHOMP: a perfect combo of fun group members and community service! We are founded on the notion of bringing together those with extra resources and those with an unmet need in order to fill empty stomachs. At its core, CHOMP seeks to deliver extra food from Gator Dining and off-campus locations to the St. Francis House food pantry regularly during the week. CHOMP also focuses on other large projects such as a campus-wide hygiene products drive. Our first meeting of the year is Thursday, October 15 at 5:00pm in Reitz room 287. Peer Leaders gain leadership and public speaking skills, as well as the unique opportunity to teach undergraduate students in a small classroom setting. 17.	EVENT: Rally for Health Care Reform (TODAY):
Do you think it's unconscionable to sit back and let 45,000 Americans die every year because of a lack of health insurance? Health care reform is not a political issue. It is a moral obligation.

It's time to stand up and do something about it. On Wednesday, October 14, the UF College Democrats will be hosting a rally for Health Insurance Reform on the Plaza of the Americas from 12:40-1:15pm. Learn what you can do to influence the debate and help bring about meaningful reform.

We need a strong presence on the plaza to send a message to our representatives in Washington. If you can't stay for the entire event, please stop by for a few minutes on your way to class.

For more see our facebook event at
http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=151410653239

We may not be the first generation to tackle health care reform, but we must be the last.
