Hi BESTSers,
Biogas is not just for industrialized nations. On the island
of Java in Indonesia, local Tofu manufacturers are producing
biogas from their left-over soybean scraps. Not only are their
handling the waste, which previously caused a problematic stench,
but also producing a renewable fuel with which they cook their
tofu. Best of all they are doing it all on-site. This is truly
local energy. This article shows that the benefits of biogas are
just as great, if not greater, in developing countries as in
industrialized nations, by giving renewable energy to those that
need it most. Just image the marketing potential for their tofu
here in the US (Tofu Green??)
