The 15th annual Public Interest Environmental Conference will be held at UF Levin College of Law February 26-28, 2009. The theme for the conference is Beyond Doom and Gloom: Illuminating a Sustainable Future for Florida. Victoria Tschinkel will kick off the conference as the keynote speaker at the Opening Reception on Thursday evening. Rena Steinzor, President of the Center for Progressive Reform and Professor at the University of Maryland Law School will give the keynote address at Friday's banquet. In between, the conference includes plenary speakers and panels on thinking outside the grid, green ports, social marketing and communications,water supply, environmental journalism, adaptation to sea level rise, and credit trading programs, and workshops on the land use approval process and communicating with legislators. The conference has been approved for 13 CLE credits by the Florida Bar. Registration is free for UF faculty, staff and students.
