Subject: Alachua County Mobility Plan Workshop
Alachua County Staff will be holding a public workshop to discuss the Comprehensive Plan amendments proposed as an element of "Mobility: Alachua County's Plan to Effectively Link Transportation and Land Use". The meeting will be held on Monday, February 23rd from 4:00-5:30 PM in the Grace Knight Meeting Room in the Alachua County Administration Building located at 12 SE 1st Street Gainesville, FL 32602.
The goal of the proposed Mobility Plan that County Staff is recommending is to address state statute requirements to "Reduce vehicle miles of travel and green house gas emissions through provisions of mobility within compact, mixed-use, interconnected developments that promote walking and bicycling, allow for the internal capture of vehicular trips and provide the densities and intensities needed to support transit." Encouraging Traditional Neighborhood and Transit Oriented Developments as proposed in the Future Lane Use Amendments and the development of an interconnected multi-modal transportation system within the Urban Cluster as proposed in the Transportation Mobility Element Amendments is intended to achieve this goal.
The proposed Comprehensive Plan amendments, maps and related background information can be found at:
