Happy Friday BESTSers,
Food waste to biogas is an energy and waste management
solution for all corners of the globe. This article discusses a
pilot plant to produce biogas from food waste in Australia.
Anaerobic digestion is a great candidate for Australia due to the
sparse development where centralized landfill collection and
energy production can be more difficult. Local digesters set up
in small communities could handle this waste and produce biogas
without having to truck the waste to a centralized location. The
dry climate also makes digestion appealing where composting may be
more difficult. It's exciting to see that this technology is
being developed on almost all the continents (Antarctica, we're
looking at you).
