YouTube has recently released an EDU channel geared towards Universities
and Colleges. If any of you attended the Higher Ed webinar entitled The
Editor's Guide presentation for Higher Ed (6/26/08), it featured the
Duke News Office and their release of their own YouTube channel that was
part of the beta phase of testing.
Thought this was interesting and wanted to pass the information along.
We are interested in using it here for the College of Ed to publish a
lot of events that we already record - like commencements and internal
seminars. Like other popular social media, I see this as another great
way to expose units and drive more traffic to your sites.
I wonder how many other units out there would be interested in using
YouTube in this way - or if you already have other social media tools
that you are currently using - like FaceBook or Twitter. Are you seeing
any additional traffic to your site from these venues (say maybe from
your Google Analytics??).
