March 01, 2009, Reading, PA-- Reading Area Community College (RACC) announces the Call for Participation for the 10th Annual Undergraduate Research and Creativity Conference sponsored by the Higher Education Council of Berks County (HECBC). RACC will host this conference-which is open to all undergraduate students who wish to share their work-on Saturday, April 18, 2009. Proposals should be submitted at the conference website, www.racc.edu/urc , on or before March 20, 2009.
The conference theme is "Juggling Ambiguity," and undergraduate college students across the region are invited to submit their research, analyses, and artistry in the form of paper presentations, poster presentations, musical and theatrical performances, and artistic and technical exhibitions. Proposed work need not address the conference theme.
"This annual conference provides undergraduate students, particularly those attending schools that are members of the Higher Education Council of Berks County, with an opportunity to share the results of their work," claims Dr. Anna D. Weitz, president of Reading Area Community College. "The conference introduces students to an inter-institutional learning environment and also contributes to the professionalization of tomorrow's scholars, artists, managers, designers, and entrepreneurs."
Students are encouraged to participate in the conference in order to showcase their scholarly and creative work, to learn through working closely with a faculty mentor, to network with others who share an interest, to refine presentation skills and to enhance their resumes.
Students who attend an HECBC institution can participate at no cost. HECBC members include Albright College, Alvernia University, Kutztown University, Penn State Berks and Reading Area Community College. The registration fee for students of other colleges and universities is $15. For details on the conference, students are asked to visit the conference website (www.racc.edu/urc).
