I have a few questions on how people handle "new hires" with regard to
communicating the existence of the RIM program, and informing them as to
the policy and procedures in place within a corporate environment.


Aside from general orientation, all new hires and transfers from other organizations to our engineering organization are required to complete a "RIM Essentials" course typically within 30 days of their start date.  We are currently setting up a refresher course to be completed 30 days after completion of the initial essentials course and annually thereafter.  Both courses are online powerpoint presentations with automatic rostering at the end to log completions.  I also track and post completions/non-completions in a spreadsheet and post that to our website so the 18 or so RIM coordinators in our organization can stay informed and alert individuals and managers of non-completions.  The system isn't perfect now, but hopefully our recent move to SAP will automate the process further.
