Happy Friday BESTers,
More good news from California. San Jose will be
constructing a facility to divert food waste and other organic
waste from its landfill for biogas production. The facility will
process a total of 150,000 tons per year using a technique called
dry fermentation, which digests waste with a lower moisture
content. This project is part of the city's "Green Vision" that
sets a goal of 100% renewable energy and 100% landfill waste
diversion for energy. This facility demonstrates that
food-waste-to-biogas plays an important role in meeting
municipalities' zero waste and renewable energy goals.
