RE: EAP 5836 (ITA supervised teaching class) IS eligible for a tuition waiver for FY 2009-2010
Tuition waivers will be applicable (for Fall 2009/Spring 2010) for the 3-credit EAP 5836 course for those international graduate teaching assistants for whom this class is a requirement. This course is required for all international graduate students whose first language is not English (official first language of home country) and who are appointed as teaching assistants (with lecturing/lab responsibilities) and who have oral proficiency scores of 45-50 on a SPEAK test (administered on the UF campus) or a score of 23-27 on the TOEFL-IBT Speaking component. International graduate students appointed as TA-G (grading and office hour responsibilities only) are neither required to pass a SPEAK test nor eligible to enroll in EAP 5836. SPEAK test dates, times and locations for the Fall 2009 semester are as follows:

IN ADDITION to EAP 5836 (supervised ITA teaching), ASE offers two non-credit oral proficiency in English courses ($500 for a seven-week semester) --- ASEP1 and ASEP3 -- for those international graduate students who wish to improve their performance on the SPEAK/TOEFL-IBT Speaking component and/or work on their general academic oral communication in English.
