Cedar Grove Composting in Washington state will be branching into
food waste digestion by partnering with Bioferm Energy Systems.
Anaerobic digestion and composting have a great synergistic effect
because the higher nitrogen effluent and digestate (residuals from
the process) can be integrated into high carbon materials (i.e.
woody and paper waste). By properly balancing the
carbon-to-nitrogen ratio of the compost, operators can optimize
their return on converting all organics into beneficial end
products.
