The Lower Mississippi River Forecast Center (LMRFC)  has an opening for a GS-7/9/11/12 Hydrologist.  The vacancy closes Tuesday September 7.

With the LMRFC implementing CHPS, this is an exciting time at the LMRFC.  Incumbents have the opportunity to learn about a wide range of operational hydrology from fast responding streams in the Appalachians to the Mississippi River.  There are also opportunities to learn about the coastal zone.  In addition to forecast duties, hydrologists perform hydrologic/hydraulic model calibration, computer software development, and web-page development.  Hydrologists are also involved in public outreach, helping to educate/inform the public/customers and users of our products/services.

The LMRFC is in Slidell, LA, located about 35 miles from downtown New Orleans.  New Orleans is home to world-class restaurants and music.
Within an hour of Slidell, sportsmen can enjoy hunting and freshwater/saltwater fishing.  Outdoor activities can be enjoyed year-round because of the warm climate.  The area is rich in cultural activities and history.  Home prices are affordable.
