Pre-or postdoctoral research fellow to study collaborations in science

We are seeking an excellent, highly motivated pre- or postdoctoral
research fellow to participate in an NSF-funded project, commencing as
soon as possible.

The project investigates the collaborative creation of scientific
knowledge, and combines ethnographic lab studies with the analysis of
social and citation networks of a specific scientific community. Work
will be based in New York. The appointment is for one year, with
possibility of extension for a second year. Work schedule is flexible;
a time commitment of 20-40% is expected.

Candidates must hold a doctoral degree or be advanced to candidacy in
a doctoral program in a relevant area (such as social sciences,
physics, computer science, and mathematics). Strong computational
skills and analytical background are required. Particular attention
will be given to candidates with a background in social sciences and
network research, however, it is not a requirement. Interdisciplinary
research experience is a plus.
