The UF Smathers Libraries are hosting a live, two-hour online class for researchers to explore major aspects of open access, including collection types, document types, contribution of content, scholarly review and acceptance of open access titles, and the use of open access tools for research and reference. The class is provided by Lyrasis (http://www.lyrasis.org).

This is an opportunity to hear about how open access has become a cost effective way for scholars to share their work; how this has fueled the creation of many online-only open access publications; and how groups of scholars create shared collections of scholarly materials and research in open access repositories, such as the [log in to unmask]
UF provides support for scholars who choose to publish in open access, and we will provide further information at the class on the two major ways researchers can participate in open access at UF.
